Academic Groups
The School of Earth & Environmental Sciences (EES) comprises two academic groups, aligned to cognate teaching and research interests.
![]() | Ecology, Evolution and Landscape ScienceThe assessment, monitoring and prediction of the environment and resources at a landscape scale. Alongside the study of the biology of plants and animals from taxonomic and systematic studies, to physiological and behavioural studies on individual organisms. |
![]() | Geology and GeophysicsThe study of the earth, from its surface, through its crust and to its deep mantle using outcropping rocks, boreholes and geophysical remote sensing. |
The School teaches an exciting and diverse array of subjects across these two academic areas. Our range of undergraduate teaching programs include majors in Botany, Ecology, Entomology, Environmental Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics, Marine Biology, Spatial Information, and Zoology for the flagship Bachelor of Science (BSc) program. We are also responsible for the delivery of several specialist programs, including the BSc (Marine Biology), BSc (Evolutionary Biology), BSc (Natural Resources), BSc (Mineral Geoscience), and BSc (Petroleum Geoscience).
